Here is The Official Mueller Report April 18, 2019 redacted and released in two parts by the Justice Department. The report is in 2 pdf files. Volume I deals with the Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and the possible collusion on the part of the Trump administration with the Russians. Part II deals with Donald Trump’s possible acts of obstruction-of-justice including the Mueller investigation.
Contrary to the 4 page summary issued by Trump Attorney General William Barr, the report does not exonerate Trump from all wrong doings. Prior to the release of the report, William Barr held an unprecedented news conference in an attempt to misrepresent the report’s findings in such a way as to lessen the damage that the report would have on the president. The report details numerous communications between the Trump campaign and Russians. Also, in contradiction to Barr’s four page summary, the report does not give the Attorney General the ability to exonerate the president on the matter of obstruction-of-justice. The report is designed to be presented to Congress with the intention of Congress making a decision on whether to go forth with impeachment proceedings.
Mueller stated in the report that due to Justice Department regulations, he could not charge the president with a crime. This statement from Mueller is a direct contradiction to a statement made by Barr in a congressional testimony only a week ago. The report also concludes that the president did attempt to obstruct justice and would have succeeded if not for the refusal by his staff to participate in the act of obstruction-of-justice. However, the law states that to be tried and convicted of obstruction-of-justice, one does not have to succeed in the attempt. The report also explains that the president’s behavior on numerous occasions publicly exhibited characteristics of obstruction-of-justice.
An analysis of the Mueller Report which will include page numbered highlights from the report will be provided in an upcoming article. Here are the links to the Official Mueller Report:
